Bernard De Caevel

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Owner – Managing Director[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”18px”][vc_text_separator title=”LCA | Waste | CBA” border=”no”][vc_empty_space height=”18px”][vc_column_text]Bernard De Caevel is a Chemical Engineer with a degree from ULB, Belgium. He rounded off his training with a degree in management and another one in human ecology. He is the director of RDC Environment, which he founded in 1992, and is also responsible for the scientific quality of the studies.

His main expertise is in Life Cycle Analysis and waste management. He has taught LCA at the Universities of Ghent (RUG) and Brussels (VUB). He led or participated in about twenty critical reviews of LCA studies in the fields of energy, packaging, and the food industry, among others.

The studies carried out by RDC Environment often include a significant methodological component that Bernard makes a central contribution to. He is working in-house to develop an R&D strategy for devising a method of integrating social and economic aspects into a coherent evaluation based on the lifecycle approach and monetization.

Major Achievements:

  • Managed and conducted more than 200 LCA projects since 1993
  • Development of a tool based on a full LCA model of all packaging types and allows to:
    • Automatically calculate the environmental impact of products throughout their life cycle
    • Compare the effectiveness of several scenarios of eco design by changing the parameters of each stage of the lifecycle
  • Experienced in the analysis of existing LCA studies, databases, expert for Critical reviews and counsellor for the redaction of ISO standards and environmental legislation
  • He has been involved in the conceptual development of sustainability analyses, combining economic, social and environmental impacts and has conducted 10 studies on the subject.
