Supporting the development of the PEFCR for liquid laundry detergents

RDC Environment and Solinnen supported AISE in developing sectoral rules for calculating the environmental footprint of liquid laundry detergents.

Context

In spring 2013, the European Commission launched a call for pilot projects to develop sectoral rules for calculating the environmental footprint of products (PEFCR Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules) and to test the verification process and various communication options.

Development of the PEFCR Detergent

Between 2014 and 2018, AISE, the international association for soaps, detergents and maintenance products, a European organisation representing the detergent sector, led a pilot project with the aim of developing sectoral rules for the category of liquid detergents used by households.

In partnership with the consulting firm Solinnen, RDC Environment supported the AISE Technical Secretariat in the implementation of the PEFCR Detergent.

We were involved with AISE and its members in all the major stages of the project: definition of the reference product, preliminary study (PEF screening), complementary studies (PEF supporting studies) and drafting of the PEFCR sectoral reference framework.
