Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and advanced LCA expertise
In the construction and infrastructure sector, EPDs are the most common environmental studies, providing transparent, standardized, and comparable environmental information on construction products. RDC Environment has extensive experience performing EPDs across a wide range of construction materials (different concrete products, timber, plastic pipes…) and under multiple EPD programs and program operators (EPD International, B-EPD, IBU…), ensuring full compliance with the relevant norms (EN 15804). One of these projects went beyond a single declaration and led to the development of a dedicated EPD calculation tool for concrete products, enabling consistent, efficient, and scalable EPD generation while maintaining methodological rigor.
Our expertise extends beyond product-level declarations into more advanced LCA knowledge for infrastructure systems. We have conducted a study assessing the relevance of infrastructure-related impacts in LCAs, addressing challenges such as system boundary definition, representation of infrastructure elements, and interpretation of results. This combined experience allows us to support robust modelling choices and provide clear, decision‑relevant insights for complex, infrastructure‑intensive systems.
Reuse and repair in the built environment
We have strong expertise in assessing repair and reuse strategies, supporting the transition toward more circular models in the built environment and beyond. Previous studies done focused on assessing how extended product lifetimes, increased repair rates, and scaled‑up reuse activities influence environmental performance at both product and system levels. We are experienced in modelling complex circular scenarios, including refurbishment processes, logistics and substitution effects and in translating these results into actionable insights for policy design, ecodesign strategies, and sectoral roadmaps. This expertise enables us to robustly evaluate the environmental relevance of repair and reuse as levers for reducing impacts across diverse product systems.
